HOSTEL LIFESTYLE AND POLICIES


# Typical Day

The day begins at 5am in the morning with the cook starting her work in the kitchen. Breakfast will be kept ready by 7:30am. You are free to have it any time before 10.00am. Next the cleaning up of the premises will start by the housekeeping staff. The rooms will not to be entered without the inmate’s permission.
Afternoon, Lunch will be served by 12:30pm. Open till 2:30pm.
Each inmate will have their own utensils for their personal use.
The inmates have the freedom to make their tea or coffee in the kitchen.
Evening, the Sharada Mandira is opened for puja. Bhajans are held and prasada distributed. This gives good positive vibes to the environment.
The Dinner will be ready by 8pm and the kitchen closes at 9:45pm.
The Gate is locked at 8pm and the inmates retire to their rooms.

# Celebrations & Festivals

The Sharada Mandira has daily pujas in the evenings, with bhajans sung by those present. Prasada is offered to the deity daily and then distributed. Festivals are celebrated similarly with equal devotion.

# Policies & Rules

Care in maintaining the Hostel Rooms and premises:

  • • Inmates should maintain their Rooms, Cupboards, Furniture’s, Corridors and other common areas neat and tidy.
  • • Scribbling/Scratching on the walls, breaking or touching the CCTV Cameras and damaging properties of the Hostel will be viewed seriously and shall invite disciplinary action against the Violators /Defaulters. If required they shall be fined for the damage done
  • • Decent dress code is to be maintained in the Hostel premises.
  • • The Hostel shall maintain SILENCE from 11pm to 6am. Enough care should be taken to ensure MUSIC/LOUD talks are not audible outside the rooms.
  • • Inmates are not permitted to leave the Hostel Campus before 5am and after 9:30 pm without the prior permission from the concerned authority or the warden.
  • • Inmates should be back in the Hostel by 7:45pm.
  • • Inmates should enter and leave the Hostel building only through the designated paths/entrances in the campus.
  • • Inmates will not enter the rooms of other inmates without prior intimations.
  • • Every case of Illness/accident, it must be reported immediately to the Hostel authority.
  • • Inmates suffering from contagious disease will not be permitted to stay at the Hostel. Decision of the Chief-Warden, in this regard, will be final.
  • • All matters relating to difference among inmates and complaints against theft shall be brought to the notice of the Hostel Management. No police complaint shall be lodged by the inmate before taking prior permission from the Management/Concerned authorities.
  • • Inmates acts, such as abusive and threatening language, physical fights are punishable. Further the Inmates are liable to be expelled from the Hostel without any notice. Advance amount will be held back in this regard.
  • • Staying out of the Hostel: If inmates need to stay out of the Hostel for any period of time or need to leave for personal reasons, they have to take prior written permission in the prescribed format and get approved from the Chief-Warden. Staying out of the Hostel without permission may attract strict disciplinary action.
  • • Vandalism is a serious offence and anyone found guilty of committing or resorting to such acts can be fined or expelled from the Hostel with immediate notice.
  • • Inmate should not approach the members of the Management at their residence. Any suggestions or concerns can be in writing (with the Name and Valid contact) and dropped in the confidential suggestion box.
  • • Maintain hygiene in disposing sanitary pads: Should be wrapped in newspaper and trashed only in the prescribed bins, kept at the corners of the respective corridors.
  • • The Hostel management reserves the right to carry out spot checks of the Hostel and the rooms anytime, without giving prior notice to the Hostel inmates.
  • • Electricians, Carpenters or any other room service personnel may enter the Hostel complex or the rooms as and when necessary in the course of their duty, under the directive of the Chief-Warden. However, every effort and concern will be made to respect the privacy and dignity of the inmates, well in advance.
  • • No inmate is allowed to change the room allotted to them without the prior permission of the Chief-Warden. Anyone found changing rooms or residing in other rooms is liable to be expelled from the Hostel.
  • • Inmates shall take prior permission of the Chief-Warden for celebrating any Festivals or Birthdays. The same should be held in the common area between 8.00pm to 9:30pm. There shouldn't be any discomfort to the other inmates. No guests or relatives are entertained for this event.

# Use of Dining Hall and Kitchen:

  • • Every day healthy pure vegetarian menu schedule is made and displayed on the Dining Notice Board.
  • • Inmates are strictly restricted entering the Kitchen.
  • • No Room Service will be provided; should have their food in the Dining Hall only.
  • • Milk will be served from 7am to 8am.
  • • Breakfast from 7:30am to 10am
  • • Lunch from 12:30pm to 2:30pm
  • • Dinner from 8pm to 9:30pm
  • • The Kitchen closes exactly at 9:45pm
  • • No inmate is permitted to take the mess utensils/plates outside the dining hall. If anyone violates this rule they are liable to be penalized by the hostel authority.

# Use of House-Keeping and Security:

  • • House-keeping services should not be misused; making them wash clothes, personal works and bribing tips are strictly monitored.
  • • Maintain professional distance with the Security personnel and never allow people take advantage in any situations; in-case you find yourself disturbed then you should bring it to the notice of the Chief-Warden.

# Visitors:

  • • Visitors, including parents, are allowed only in the Visitor’s area of the Hostel, only during the Visiting hours; please check the timings on the Notice Board.
  • • All visitors must first make an entry in the register at the security cabin and provide all details and documents as requested by the security personnel, before entering the Visitor's area of the Hostel.
  • • All visitors must strictly adhere to the timings and leave the campus as per the visiting hours.
  • • Hostel inmates are not permitted to allow visitors of the opposite gender into their rooms at any time, for any reason whatsoever; found violating this rule, will be expelled from the Hostel and will also be liable for disciplinary action.

Security:

  • • Inmates are required to keep the Hostel Card and produce it on demand by the Hostel Management/ Hostel Authorities.
  • • Inmates are advised to lock all the doors, for security reason, at all times. The Hostel management is not responsible for any loss of private property.
  • • Inmates are strongly advised to lock all your valuables eg., Mobile phones, Laptop, Watches, Money, Jewelry etc., at all times.
  • • Any inmate, who finds her roommate missing for more than 24hrs, must report to the Chief-Warden immediately. This is to enable the Hostel Authorities to take immediate action, if any untoward incident.

Termination of Tenancy:

  • • Inmates can terminate the Hostel Tenancy by giving at least one month written notice; failure to do so will result in forfeiture of one month's Rent.
  • • The Hostel Management can end the Tenancy at any time if:
    : The Inmate fails to pay the Hostel fees within the due date.
    : If the Inmate fails to comply with the terms of the Tenancy.

Revision of Rules and Regulations:

  • • The Hostel Management reserves the right to revise the Rules and Regulations from time to time and will keep the Inmate informed of any changes, in the form of Notices on the Hostel Notice Board.
  • • Every year there will be a hike of 5% on Boarding and Lodging Charges.
  • • The monthly rent has to be paid in full, even if the inmate has taken leave, for how many days ever.

# Terms & Conditions

Admission Rules (For Students Only)
  • • The students are granted admission only for the specific course duration.
    Example: If the students have taken admission for the PUC course , then they can stay for only 2 years in the hostel.
  • • * Incase of any extension required, a written application has to be given to Hostel management and it is the discretion of the management to extend or reject the application.
  • • It will be purely considered on a case to case basis. Management decision will be final.
